There is nothing more frustrating than a trading platform that keeps freezing or lagging. We get it; it annoys us too!

But thankfully, there are a few recommendations you can follow to stop this from happening.

  • Check your internet connection speed: Sometimes, a slower internet connection can cause issues with the pricing lagging or the charts freezing if it does not have the necessary speed to support the platform's functionality.

  • Restart your computer: If your computer has been working for a long time (especially if it's old), then it may start slowing down as your RAM fills up. To free up the RAM, all you have to do is restart your computer. This will make everything a bit faster.

  • Check for updates on your MetaTrader 5: If your MT5 is stuck on an older version, it may cause issues such as chart freezing or lagging in pricing. To update your MT5, all you have to do is close the program, right-click the MT5 icon, and select Run as Administrator. If a new version is available, it will update automatically.

  • As far as lagging in pricing goes, there may be a more simple explanation as to why it occurs. Depending on the instrument, and the trading time, there may be a low liquidity in the market. This is usually more common at nighttime, or around the holidays.

If you believe that your MT5 is lagging for any reason other than the ones mentioned, you can always try to reinstall it by clicking here and following the instructions.

As always, you can also contact our support team to get more assistance.
